Of the feline breed. ThankYouVeryMuch. We are very much past that phase in our life!
Lexus
(aka Lexi, Orange Ear, Black Nose)
Shelby
(aka Half-Stache, Black Ears, Stink-Pot)
Kyle and I have been thinking about, talking about, mulling over the idea of a pet for the boys. More specifically a *cough* puppy *cough*. Not ready to commit to all that is dog {and an acceptance that we quite possibly are not dog people} I suggested a kitten. Suprisingly Kyle didn't think my idea was the worst thing he had ever heard, and agreed. Which was an opportunity I jumped on QUICK{before he changed his mind}...and set off looking for kittens.
I had my eye on a cute little gray fuzzy ball of a kitten tht ended up hissing at me. The gal helping me must have sense my disappointment and offered to bring out a more loving and cuddly kitten...
She totally up-sold me by bringing out and handing to me the cutest little furball that turned out to be TWO little calico girls curled around each other. Forever the story, to be told, of how I was up-sold by a tech at the vet. How I get myself into these things is totally beyond me. {Deep Sigh}
The truth is I'm a sucker for the bleeding hearts! These little girls are sisters..with a story. Their mom was abandoned at the vet I got them from, pregnant, and in need of care. The staff took turns fostering mom and eventually found her a home but were left with her kittens. I honestly had zero intention of adopting TWO cats..but I just didn't have the heart to split them up. I mean, honestly..they are sisters!
We've experienced our fair share of growing pains as they are kittens..which equals mischevious, but they are great little kitties..so far {I don't want to jinx myself}. They are both sweet, cuddly, and well mannered {which is always nice}. Even our resident feline has come to terms with it all.
Can't help but resist the cute, mid-yawn-look..almost to say "I didn't do it, I was sleeping"
*For the record, yes they are "named after cars". It was supposed to be cities. You see, there is a story behind it all...
The resident feline is named Jersey, as in New Jersey or Jersey Girl {from the movie Coyote Ugly}. Wanting to stay in the "genre" I suggested Shelby (NC), Charlotte (NC), Aurora (IL) -aka Rory, OR Charlotte (NC) -aka Charlie. We were all in agreeance with Shelby, but the second name went up for debate. It was then that someone suggested Porsche (Porsha) or Lexus. We left it up to the kids...after-all they are the boys pets...so Lexus it is {despite my urging for it to be Porsche}
..And yes..I know this qualifies me a quite possibly being a "cat-lady". What can I say? A girl has to start somewhere. Have I mentioned that I am still totally unsure how I get myself into these things?
