Yellowstone 2012

This years trip was a fast paced and packed with things we had never seen before {despite the number of times we've been to the park}.
We saw all sorts of animals, Bears, Elk, Bison, Coyote, Antelope, Deer and of course..Chipmunks..
This little guy ended up chirping and squeaking which brought all the chipmunks out of hiding. I'm sure it was a call to let them all know there was free food for the grabbing. They would step right up on to your hand and take whatever you offered them.
We managed to catch a geyser named Grant that was phenomenal! It takes patience to wait for it to go off, but when it does it is SO worth it!
This picture does it absolutely no justice, but I have yet to find a picture that does. Geysers are definitely something that to be appreciated must be experienced in person. This geyser shot water into the air a good 300-400 feet and went off so well over 10 minutes!
Some things we were disappointed to see was so much change in the scenery, much of which is a result of vandalism and the stupidity of people.
Mammoth was painfully dry..causing it to be chalky white in color and lacking it's signature gold and yellow colors. There was also a noticeable lack of Elk in the Mammoth area. I can't remember {ever} visiting Mammoth and not seeing Elk eating off the lawns surrounding the buildings at Mammoth..not a single Elk was spotted.
Morning Glory Pool has also changed drastically. It has always been known for it's vibrant blue and green colors. However, it was noticeably gold in color...due to vandalism.
Despite some of the negative change, it was an enjoyable trip!
1 Pepsi Points :
How fun! It's been way too long since I have been to Yellowstone.
