Alternate Post Title: The Week in Review

Mr. Mr. was sure to share last weeks illness with his brother this week. A family that gets sick together, stays together, right?!? The goods news is, we seem to be through the worst part of it and on the mend!

We celebrated the 4th of July by heading out to the Kaysville City parade..what a {huge} disappointment. Kaysville is one of the only cities around that still allows the throwing of candy, and man what a mess it makes of things. The people set up their chairs 6, 7, 8 rows deep and when the parade starts they {literally} all run out into the road and line the road. It was awful! All for a little free candy. I ended up packing up our chairs and taking them  back to the truck {there was no need for them after-all, the only thing you could see while setting in them was the rear ends of those fighting for candy} The whole thing was sad too- I was really looking forward to being in my old stomping grounds. I guess I really do belong in Layton!  After the disappointment of the parade we headed home where we played and napped before Kyle had to head off to work..closing the day out quietly, from the comfort of our air conditioned haven *sigh*

There was no smiling. It was too hot and they didn't like having to wait for the parade to start.

On Thursday of this week, we FiNaLLY saw some rain! Much needed rain -for all the fires we've been experiencing across the state. The dark skies and soggy weather urged me to sneak away from work early and we took the boys to see Brave. It was cute. Not one of my favorite Disney movies, but cute nonetheless.

Friday morning, the boys set off to play and came home with a kitten {she followed them home from their bike ride}. It's been so long since our cat was that young and playful, the boys loved having her around. Alas, I was able to find her owner and we sent her home {thankfully too}.

It's not often that I get the urge to bake and create in the kitchen {I much prefer to sew or craft}, this week, however, I had the need for a dessert. So, I set off to find something quick, easy, but good..I found a yummy winner!

I'm still working on my presentation...as they didn't look near as good as they tasted!

On the first Saturday of every month Home Depot hosts their {free} Kids Workshops...something we've grown to love and look forward to. The boys have made planters, storage boxes...you name it. This month? A Penske moving truck! The whole experience typically ends with the parent building the majority of the project, but it's all worth it!

Next week? We don't know....We will just have to wait and see what it brings!

That's kinda sweet that the kitty followed them home. :)

I think I'm with them on the misery from the heat though! Who's ready for fall?!
