Alternate Post Title: The week in review

Oh Boy! Where to start?

It's been a quiet week...for the most part.

The heat has officially set in in these here parts so we ventured out to the Roy Aquatics center {last} Friday. That's a fun place to be. It's all outdoors with two water slides, splash pads (LARGE ones) and a swimming/diving area. Definitely somewhere we will go again. The boys cried when we told them it was time to leave -despite having been there for hours. {Thinking I was being smart, I left my camera at home, only to wish later that I had taken it {or at least our inexpensive point and shoot}.

It's all very bittersweet, but the boys baseball ended for the season -late last week. I have to be honest and admit that the whole venture was taxing. We had games 4 nights a week, which I chauffeured and attended alone -3 nights out of the 4. Having said that, I sure do love seeing my boys in a setting like that. There is something about baseball..I just don't know what it is..that I love seeing my boys be a part of.

Mo-Tay lost a tooth this week. That is tooth # 2 for him. Little stinker's adult tooth had come up BEHIND the baby tooth, not forcing it out, so he had to let the dentist pull it for him. Needless to say he wasn't overly excited about that. Although, all was forgotten and well again when the tooth fairy left him a few dollars. What's the going rate for teeth these days? My dad told me I was being cheap with $0.50 and I told him it was highway robbery for her to leave $5.00 (which he had suggested).
Pardon the messy face. Keeping a clean face in this house is much like trying to nail Jell-O to a wall. {notice the tooth to the left of center? That is a set of 'conjoined' teeth. It's believed that the baby tooth joined itself to the adult tooth. He never did get a baby tooth in that spot. The new tooth is right of center. This poor kid is going to need braces..no doubt about it.}

Somewhere around Tuesday I discovered that EVERY picture from my blog was missing. Poof! Gone! Just like that! I was devastated. I later figured out that it went down a little like this: we recently got new smart phones and the pictures from my blog began appearing in the picture gallery of my phone and always seemed to be in the way...so I deleted them. Apparently {which I knew, but just didn't think about}, Blogger, Picasa and Google are all intermingled. So a tap of the screen on my phone about did me in. It's taken me ALL week but I've recovered {most} of my photos. Lesson learned the hard way! Learn from my mistakes, that was a hard one to swallow whole!

The boys {were} driving each other and us CrAZy! Summer boredom has officially set in...so we signed them up for a program run by the city called "Recreate in the Park". They get to go to the park two days a week 9am-1pm where they have organized activities (i.e. games, music, crafts). Best of all, Thursdays are water days.... the city does not have secondary water so they turn the sprinklers on in the park, throw down a big tarp {for the slip 'n slide) and the kids go to town. They are LOVING IT! Best $$ spent in a LONG time! Our boys are currently only going two days a week, but they offer it four days a week. We may be signing them for an extra day or two here and there, because it has been SO worth it!

The remodel at our house has officially been over since late April-early May but I just haven't had the heart to put any holes in those freshly painted walls. I finally reached 'ready' last weekend and have spent all week slowly getting things put up. There is something about having those finishing touches in place that say "You're Home, Welcome". It feels good. With Kyle's help {of course} we've managed to finish off the Kitchen, dining room, bathrooms and one focal point in the living. Now I just have 3 bare walls {in the living room}, the hall, boys room and master to conquer. Slowly but surely, we will get there. Although, at this snails pace it will be time to remodel again! I kid! I kid! The next remodel will be a full demo' of the house after the kids are moved out.

This weekend marked the annual Syracuse City Heritage Days celebration. We kicked it off on Friday with a magic show, chalk art displays and snow cones. The magician was more cheap tricks and cheesy jokes than fascinating magic, but the boys loved it {and that's what matters}. We had big plans to return on Saturday for the carnival, more fun and fireworks, but Mr. Mr. Gettie woke up Saturday morning running a horrible fever. So, we closed our weekend with lots of cuddles, movies and easy meals -where Mr. Mr. could still be with us. I just hate it when my babies are sick!

Only {approximately} 6 weeks of summer left at our house!

Next week? Fourth of July celebrations!! {and hopefully a healthier Mr. Mr. Gettie}

So nice what you did with your fresh, clean walls! :)

I can't believe how easy it is to apparently erase photos from EVERYTHING! Not cool, but glad you got most of them back!

After that week, you need a week off! Love the wall art in the remodel.
Also? Your nails look awesome!
