when we had a dog?

Oh, you don't?

I guess it could have slipped your mind, considering the fact that it was a short-lived experience.

Please, let me refresh your memory.

We, at one point, decided we had it all. A mortgage, two kids, jobs, cars, a cat. We were missing just one thing. A dog. Well, and maybe a fence.

So we searched high and low, until we found what looked like the perfect dog. A dog to complete this puzzle we call life.

She was a chocolate lab, still young and impressionable. Her current owner assured us she was well-manned, good with kids AND cats. She sounded perfect.

So we did what any other naive {lame-blooded} soon to be dog owners would do. We loaded her into our compact car. The boys in their car seats, my hubby driving, and me..plastered to the front seat. As she insisted on riding shot-gun, despite me already being in the seat.

By the time we got home my eyes were swollen shut. The boys were not sure what to think and the first thing she did was chase my cat.

We decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. New house, new creatures...she deserved to be cut a little slack.

Her slack ran out, when she decided that not only was she a lap dog, but that she required a fair share of the queen sized bed in our master bedroom.

It was like sharing our bed with another adult. A restless adult with extra pointy joints.

Her repeated trips to the back-yard, through out the night were, to her, runs around the neighborhood. She turned out to be a runner. Apparently a good run did the trick, however, because she was quick to do her business on my floor, upon coming back in to the house.

By morning, my hubby and I were in agreement that she was not to stay.

I was forced to eat a rather large chunk of humble pie and deliver her to the local shelter..where she could find a new home. Preferably one with a larger master bed and no cats...and maybe a fence and a maid.

It was good while it lasted, but I think everyone involved would agree, we are cat folk. Cat folk, we shall remain too.

I am not cat or dog folk. Unfortunately, the rest of my family IS dog folk. So that means we will probably get a dog at some point in the (hopefully distant?) future.

Aw bummer! We have a chocolate lab and she's exactly like you described...but a smaller version (she's a mix)

We've had dogs my whole life and of all the breeds I've lived with, I love the lab the most!

Sorry it didn't work out for you guys!
