Shhhh...Be Very Quiet...

>>  Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Last night I heard whispering and conspiring from the other room.

The whispers came two by two, as they grew closer and closer.

Soon, they were upon me and were becoming more hushed excitement than whispers.

I was sure to use my best whisper when I inquired "what are we doing?".

The younger of the two whisperers replied with: "See these {placing his hands, fingers spread, on the floor in front of him}? They are dinosaur tracks."

To which the older of the two added: "Shhhh...be very quiet...we are hunting dinosaurs."

I was quick to inform them that their hunt would yield nothing, as dinosaurs are extinct.

"That's okay", the younger said, "We will pretend."

"Yeah", his older counter-part added. "We will pretend Jersey {the family cat} is our dinosaur."

And the hunt began.......

That cat has some serious moves, but it's been a while since I saw her move that fast. She was very much like Jurassic Parks version of a dilophasaurus {they have a retractable neck frill and a spit blue poisonous substance} crossed with a tyrannosaurus-rex.

They never did end up catching her, at least for not any length of time. She definitely gave them a run for their money though, she's quite the feisty creature.

Better luck next time boys, better luck next time.

*For the record, no animals and/or children were harmed in the making of this post. The cat has no claws, although she is a 'slapper'. Which means she will reach out and slap you with that de-clawed paw of hers. When she's had enough she will move to higher ground {i.e. on top of an entertainment system, top of the kitchen cupboards etc}, where no human can easily get to her. Usually I don't allow the boys to torment my cat, but I just couldn't stop them. She could use the exercise and their imaginations were getting a serious work-out.

Cutest story ever Danielle. I was chuckling thinking I'll be doing dino hunts myself with a couple hunting partners when they get to that stage. Oh it's going to be fun! Might have to borrow your cat though, not sure I can talk my husband in to a dog before my kids become great grandparents.

This is so funny! My cats have become wise to the game, but my poor dog gets captured daily! LOL

So cute! I wish I could play around with my cat like that, but she still has claws.

Oh my cuteness!! I love their imaginations & their" hush hush" as to not spook those dinos

I can just see the whispering taking place. So cute!
