Like a Ton of Bricks
>> Wednesday, July 28, 2010
There have been many days, many nights, many moments where I couldn't wait for the next stage.
We've all had them.
"I can't wait until he walks..it will be so much easier"
"I can't wait until he goes to school"
I took a moment to just sit with my soon to be 5 year old, last night. That is when it hit me; like a ton of bricks. My baby is turning 5. Count them, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. That's only 13 years until he turns 18. As quickly as the last 5 years have slipped through my fingers, that 13 years will be gone in no time. That makes me sad.
Today I will embrace the first 5 years and hold on as tight as I can, before the next 13 are gone.
We'll start by hitting the water park, then enjoy the people that care, for the opening of presents and Buzz LightYear cupcakes. 'Cause it's good to be 5!

Happy Birthday to your beautiful son!
Don't you wish you could control the flow of time? "Today I want you to be a big five year old. Today I want you to be a tiny baby in my arms. Today I want you to be 30 so I can have a day of rest! Today I want you to be one and just learning to toddle." Ah, if only. Happy (belated) birthday, Mo-Tay! :)
