If I owned a Ball Club...

>>  Monday, November 30, 2009

I probably wouldn't have time to post on this silly blog of mine. But I don't own a ball club, of any sorts. So instead I get to post about what I would do, if I did own a ball club.

I'm not particular about what kind of ball. Baseball. Basketball. Football. Foosball. It matters not. I would have only one rule. You would abide by my rule, or your skills would never meet the court, field, table....

When our nations flag is displayed and the national anthem sung...You would Stop, and pay your respects. Your hats and helmet off, your hand over your heart and your eyes toward Old Glory.

Simple enough. You would think. Or not. I've watched enough sports in the last week, that I feel like I am entitled to an opinion. Snort.

I have yet to see more than 1/4th of an entire team paying their full respects during our national anthem. Really. If it wasn't for the freedoms that the flag stands for, those boys wouldn't be playing sports. Especially not for the astronomical amounts of money they earn. Only in America. Only in America.

If I were the parents of one of those athletes, I'd be putting the fear of God and the flag right back into them!

Absolutely!! This is yet another reason I really dislike so many pro sports. It annoys me when the spectators are not respectful either.

My husband doesnt watch much and I only care when it's social so I dont watch much. But really? Gosh thats just sad. I'm impressed my daughters elementary school still does the pledge every morning. Perhaps I should write a thank you note to the principle for continuing this tradition.

I totally agree - they can do whatever they need to after the anthem is over, but while it is on - sing and pay your respect!

AMEN!! I think our President needs a lesson in this as well.
