It's a Love-Hate Relationship Really

>>  Thursday, March 5, 2009

I have a Love-Hate relationship. Many of us do. Mine happens to be with sleep. I love to be snuggled in tight, snoozing away..uninterrupted. The smell of clean sheets, the comforter pulled up around my face, and a cloud like pillow to rest my head on.

What’s there to hate, right?!? WRONG! There is plenty to hate. I hate to go to sleep at night. I wage a battle on a nightly basis. Resisting the temptation to lay my head down, in an effort to read one more page in my novel, or to watch 10 more minutes of that television show.

All my resistance does is make for an even more miserable morning! Those mornings that you just can’t seem to drag yourself out of bed. I don’t have this experience every morning. I don’t hate waking up every morning. Just the days that begin with an alarm clock and end in Y.

I was thinking, the woman is crazy! Who could hate anything about sleep? But you are right, I HATE getting up in the morning too. I am a bit obsessed with sleeping, in our house, it is sacred and waking up anyone while they are sleeping is usually punished by a death sentence. One like this, "I am going to kill you for waking me up!"

I'm totally with you. My problem is I revel in the quietness after my boys go to bed, and I do NOT want it to end. As soon as I go to sleep I know I will be woken up by boys running in my room and jumping on my bed...which is precious, in and of itself, but I still revel in the quietness of after-bedtime.

I have the same problem! This morning I woke up to Caleb jumping on me. There has to be a more peaceful way!

I so dislike getting up in the mornings too! I just can't seem to get enough sleep, and when I sleep in I feel that must worse. And just like last night I couldn't put my book down to go to sleep, I think I will just have to stop reading at night :(

You and me both.

I completely understand! I actually have more of a battle with staying asleep. I always wake up much earlier than I would like.

I am like one of those narcoleptic goats that just drop like a rock for no reason. As a matter of fact, reading your description up there of the snuggly goodness made my eyes all droopy and I feel yawning coming on...

When I hit my 40's, I started waking up at 4:30 am every day..ugh! I hate that! It sucks getting old!

I wish I could just sleep. I love reading and watching TV at night too. When no one else is awake and the house is quiet. But believe me, it gets old really fast.....

I hate sleep period. I love nighttime but dread that point where I know I need to go to sleep. I am one of the unlucky ones that is plaqued with nightmares almost every night. Then I wake up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep.

No love-hate here. I love to sleep! Once my kids grew up I even started taking *gasp* NAPS!

Fiauna 05 March, 2009 12:47

Nap anyone? Sometimes I think I'm addicted to sleep. I LOVE it. Can I have more, please?

Love sleep way too much. during the day especially, then I can't sleep at night! Bummer!

Lee 05 March, 2009 14:47

I understand how you feel completely. I wage the same battle every night! I always try to fight it and never manage to.

I wake up in the morning looking forward to going to sleep that night! Not in a depressive way but a 'I love my pillow and ambien' sort-of way :-)

I too hate going to sleep. I don't know why either.

Donna 05 March, 2009 17:11

Sometimes I look forward to going to bed, other times there's just too much I want to do! That picture is so relaxing and it makes me want to go to sleep right now.

I hate to go to bed and I hate to wake up. I feel like a two year old when I say that outloud...
