California: Adventure Three (Glass Beach and Lighthouses)
>> Sunday, November 11, 2012
From Willits and Legget we traveled into Fort Bragg to experience the Glash Beach, Cowlicks Ice Cream and Lighthouses.
The Glass beach is literally littered with sea glass. Upon arriving at the glass beach it doesn't appear like it's going to be much, as you access it an industrial part of town. But as you approach the shore the sand glistens with glass.
We had a great time sifting through the sand, looking at all the different colored glass. The views were amazing too.
Before heading to our next destination things were made even better by Cowlicks Icecream. YUM! They had the best Rocky Road I had ever tasted..and I know me some Rocky Road Ice cream. Just talking about it makes me crave it.
I was fascinated by the history of the light-houses. First one? Point Cabrillo.

Point Arena Light House
Point Arena offered a fascinating tour to the top, which I missed, but got to hear all about from hubby and Mo-Tay.
While my boys were on a tour in the lighthouse, I took a self-guided tour around the grounds and found things that appealed to my photographic eye.
I love this old relic, which was driven into the ground, pointing me north. I found it beautiful and symbolic all in it's own regard.
An old chain hooked to an anchor. Weathered and aged, but strong, withstanding the test of time.
For our next adventure we head into the big city..San Francisco to be specific....stay tuned.
3 Pepsi Points :
I love your photographic eye. Hubby and I have many "artsy fartsy" photos.
Spectacular!!! I can't believe that treasure trove of sea glass. Absolutely wonderful!
What a beautiful place!
And thanks a lot, now I'm craving Rocky Road ice cream. It's my favorite!
