California: Adventure One (Skunk Train)

>>  Sunday, November 4, 2012

Our first adventure (after a 14 hour drive the day before bringing us to our first stop) was a ride on the Skunk Train. We took the 3 hour trip from Willits to Northspur, where we had lunch and then traveled back to where we started from.

The train had an open car, where we enjoyed most of our ride from. The air was cool and crisp as the train made the ascent up the hill into the fog, all of which added to the sounds of the train moving down the track, and the smell of the engine burning fuel.

The views from the train were AMAZING. These photos do them absolutely No justice.

Redwoods don't burn easily, due to their size and makeup. This tree they referred to as the "Striped Tree"

Next Stop? A tree so large you can drive through it....well, we tried to anyways..
