Me and My Machine
>> Monday, June 14, 2010
A neighbor sparked my passion for the needle and thread by teaching me (at the ripe old age of 8) to make scrunchies and headbands {back when they were all the lacy rage} with an old tired machine that she kept around for the inexperienced.
My machines off-white color has faded to a pale yellow, and her feed dogs are tired, but she has stayed tried and true. Together we've crafted many a wonderful things {with a few failures along he way}. Even with the addition of my Serger, she never wavered.
You may be wondering where this moment of nostalgia has come from? My machine and I were recently re-aquainted -with one another, after a long absence. She's been carefully stowed away in a closet, safe from the little hands that have kept me away from her. She saw day light yesterday, and oh the magic we threaded together.
