Planes, Trains and Automobiles

A well anticipated weekend brought with it, foul weather; weather in the form of rain and {some} snow. Which left me full of energy and "nothing" to do. I decided to make the best of my situation and pay some much needed attention to tasks around the house.

The doing of dishes, changing of sheets and tidying of toys led to the organizing and purging of the surplus of stuff. That's when I decided to try something. An experiment of sorts.

I moved all my boys toys to a closet. A locked closet. I left behind only a certain set of things. Things that must meet a certain set of specifications. It must fly, drive, or roll. That left cars, trains, airplanes and balls. I was curious to see A) if they would notice and B) how it would effect their play time.

So far it's been the best reorganization of things I've done -to date. It's like Christmas all over again. They are playing with things they had forgotten they had. I've seen them only when they needed nourishment.

I should make this a regular occurrence. These boys of mine typically spend more time playing with everything BUT their toys. If I had realized all I had to do was dig out the less played with toys to find some peace, I would have done it many moons ago.

We did that in our daycare center all the time. We'd switch around toys and the kids would think they were getting something new.

I can't even talk about the weather right now.
