The Wheels Go 'Round and 'Round and...

>>  Monday, July 13, 2009

There have been times in my life where all I wanted was A car. It didn't matter what it looked like, I just wanted the freedom of 4 wheels -to call my own.

Finally having a car soon led to wanting a specific car. It quickly became about desire over necessity.

This phase in my life being followed by having a GREAT car (or two) but always open to bigger and better. Specifically the BIGGER part (Something with hauling capabilities).

Today's desire? To rid myself of at least one car. Okay..maybe two.

The point? I sold a car, bought a car, and borrowed a car (while waiting for the delivery of the new car). I went from having 2 cars, to 1 car to 3 cars (only one of which was mine to drive), and finally to 4 cars. All of which were in the same parking lot at one time today. Ugh!

The moral of the story? I wish I hadn't wished for all those cars..all those years ago. There are small children in foreign countries walking to and from -to get about. Here I am, sitting on 4 sets of wheels. Such a waste!

You know, I'd rather have one completely paid for car, than 10 cars and their debt...

It's funny how life starts to just show us what's important. 4 cars kind of isn't, some days! We have 3- paid for, old, but trusty- one is a parked treasure of my hubby's and the other 2 we use daily. Good luck!

This story confused me. Maybe it's because I'm exhausted.

Hope you can find a way to rid yourself of some of those cars.
Heck, I don't even have ONE car.

Well, ya know if you can afford a couple of cars, go you! There is nothing wrong with desire if you have the means.

We went from having a very basic cheap car to having a nicer, dependable sedan to a desire driven SUV over a 12 year span. I wouldn't change that because we learned to appreciate everything we had along the way. We never took on anything we couldn't handle.

Never was much of a car nut myself. In my 30's I got what I called my boogie-mobile, a little Datsun 280Z. Just loved that car. When Pat & I married I let him drive it to work cuz I no longer loved it...NO more boogieing!!
Now I drive a 14year old Subaru wagon that get me from point A to point B and I'm happy as a clam. (I have a 93Jeep GrandCherokee too, but it is a gas guzzler, so only use it occasionally.)
