Putting Your Nose To The Grind Stone
>> Monday, November 17, 2008
Well, yet another weekend has come and gone. Oh weekend, where did you go? They are never long enough. While at times, I silently pray for them to end. Today fortunately doesn't not mark one that I was praying would end.
For today, the woes of being in toddler-hood alone all weekend pales in comparison to not wanting to be at work today. As I still don't feel well. Regardless, there is paperwork to be filed, customers to be dealt with, and tasks that seems to continually loom over me.
There is one perk to being behind my desk on this fine morning. That being the fact that the construction that we have been under for the last 4 months have finally come to an end! I would share pictures, but that would give away too many of my secrets. Maybe another day. Just imagine the very best in gray carpeted cubicle materials, surrounded by surge protectors to power the many electronics I use on a daily basis, and the sweet sound of your heels clicking against the plastic floor guard under-foot. Sure there isn't a window in sight, and we are isolated from the rest of the building, but the new workspace created, is all Mine and IT.IS.DIVINE!
I am going to miss the construction crew. There is nothing that quite compares with the hum of power tools, the pounding of hammers or the sting of sheet-rock dust in the air. Oh, the memories. Somehow, I will manage to find solace in the solitude, somehow. Until then, I must march on, as Friday is calling my name! Can you hear it?

At my previous job, our building was totally ghetto. I worked at a charter school/after-school program for at-risk youth, and the carpet was disgusting.
So, my boss got this great idea to just rip up the carpet and just paint the concrete. Well, he didn't plan on all the carpet glue, which created all these potholes all over the place. It was so bad. Probation officers made comments all the time.
When we finally got new carpet, it was like Christmas!
The weekend does go by too fast. Every other weekend we get to spend without my husband because of his work schedule. This weekend being one of those--it went by fast but I feel like I got nothing accomplished!!
Reminds me of when I had a job at a preschool. We were leeching off of a church for a room for the class, and it was not pretty. But when we moved to a brand new building, it was amazing. The smell of new carpet and the pretty, custom for us cabinets. Heaven.
Weekends go faster and faster!

Knowing where you work... Isolation isn't all bad!
