Sensory Over-Load

>>  Friday, September 12, 2008

Today, I went on a truly unique adventure. To where you ask? The Family History Library. Can you say sensory over-load? The last time I was at the FHL I was all of about 11 years old. Things were not as I remember them, as technology has changed things tremendously. I was not prepared for what I found beyond the front doors of this awe-inspiring resource to my past.

It took the majority of my time simply getting acclimated to my surroundings and everything that was available to me. I have to admit that this adventure did not produce the results I was hoping for. But after giving it some thought, I shouldn't have expected any different. I have embraced the fact that its going to take at least one more visit before I get it all figured out. As badly as I wanted to earlier today, I have vowed not to give up on my genealogy search.

You're so lucky to have that nearby. What an awesome resource to be able to go and use. I have a goal to delve into my family history work by this winter and to make it a regular habit and part of my life. Thanks for the extra inspiration to do so!

I haven't been in years and years. I know geneology should interest me, but it just doesn't.
