Cars, Cars and More Cars

For those of you that have wondered about the references to My Chevron Cars...this is an explanation. Years ago, my dad began bringing home these cute little cars from the Chevron gas station. At the time, my dads reasoning for the cars were in response to two things. First, my endless requests for a "car" as I was approaching my 16th birthday. Second, they were an inexpensive way to let me know that he was thinking of me.
Its been documented that Chevron Corporation underestimated the popularity of the cars, as did my dad. I imagine that if he had known that a 4 car collection would boom into a 51+ car collection over the span of 11 years, he would not have started bringing them home to me. As he has purchased ALL 44 cars in my collection. Not to mention the fact that in 1996 when the first car hit the market they sold for $2.99 with the purchase of fuel at the local Chevron gas station (in the good 'ol days when gas was .97 cents/gallon) Now, your average car costs $7.99, unless you are wanting a "hard to find" or "retired" car, that can cost you $20+ on Ebay.
These cute little cars which were once a childhood toy, have become a sentimental token from my childhood. I imagine my dad wonders when my childhood will end, and prays that Chevron will cease production, hopefully sooner than later.P.S. I've posted a copy of My Collection on the right side of our blog, located directly under the Elsewhere tag.

"Hi, My name is Danielle and I'm OCD" or as Kyle likes to tell me, I'm C-D-O (Thats OCD in alphabetical order, because I AM that compulsive, that the letters must be alphabetical)
