Angels, Signs, and our Very Own Liahona

So, the story goes a little like this...

Today was the beginning of  long weekend, Memorial Day weekend. Our activities for this weekend have been planned for months. The plan being to pull our camping trailer to Caldwell Idaho, and spend time with family.

Early in the week, as we began preparations for our little getaway, I had a sinking feeling about the travel, but made a conscious decision to dismiss it. Summing up my feelings as being a result of feeling over-whelmed and ill prepared.

Fast forward to today...

Trailer packed and ready to go, I did my usual "Brake Check, Blinker Check, Tire Check" -on the trailer- as Kyle pulled it out of the driveway, but something caught my attention. A 'sick' looking tire. It was oddly shaped and bulging at the seems. After closer inspection, it was realized that it was literally rotted out.

No big deal, right? All that was needed was 4 new tires. Easy enough. 45 minutes at the tire store and we were good as new, and on the road again.

About 15 minutes into the trip, the trailer fish-tailed out of control, {for no reason at all}...on flat road, holding a steady {safe} speed. We slowed her down and took the first exit, only to realize that the truck was hot and over-heating.

Now, one must understand we have a unique connection with this truck of ours. The last time it over-heated {for NO REASON}, we were about to make a very foolish purchase that would have changed our circumstances in a negative way.  It was it over-heating that made us rethink our options and making a much wiser decision.

One may also remember this truck of ours has been known to run with the angels...

It was then, as we sat there, only 15 minutes away from home, 5 hours from our getaway destination that everything came into perspective. We were being sent a very clear message. A message that was telling us to return home.

We may never know what the Lord was protecting us from this weekend, but it was very apparent that he was hard at work.

As we drove towards home, a sense of peace fell over me. Message sent, message received, with our very own Liahona leading the way home..... right where we belong.

*Once a conscious decision was made to turn around and return home, the truck went back to running normally, and has shown no signs of why it over-heated or any plans to do it again.
