1 Penny, 2 Penny...3

>>  Wednesday, May 26, 2010

It's no secret that I'm OCD. Part of my behavior includes my laundry routine. I'm very particular. Towels are washed with only towels, under garments with under garments, denim with only denim. So on and so forth.

I totally play into the idea that washing under garments with towels spreads germs and that denim can be damaging {agitating against} delicate fabrics.

Because I'm so particular I was surprised to find a hand full of coins at the bottom of the wash tub. This wouldn't have been unusual if I was moving a load of pants or something similar. What made it unusual was the fact that I was moving under garments. Sure it's possible that they went unnoticed from a previous load {although, not as likely considering the previous load had been towels}. I can't help but wonder who {in my household} keeps their coins in their underwear. I know it's not me. That just sounds uncomfortable.

What are some of the odd things you've found while doing laundry?

I found the soggy remains of a rather large moth. I blame my daughter's bug class.

The worst possible thing is crayons.

I do my laudry the same! I find money but like you usually when I do jeans. I also find rocks, barbie shoes, parts of lead pencils, etc.

Sorting laundry that way makes sense, because then you are not overdrying your underwear while your towels are finishing. Strangest thing found? A pen that was all in pieces, and amazingly noe of the ink had gotton all over everytning...

My husband loves Sharpies. Markers, pens, it doesn't matter. He LOVES them. Part of loving them means they need to be carried everywhere. In the pockets. Long ago I issued a new rule; "I'm not your mother, I don't clean out your pockets" Usually this isn't a big deal, as hubby has learned that anything (besides money) will be thrown away no questions asked if it's found in the washer. On the rare occasion I'll open up the washer that's 99% MY stuff and 1 pair of hubs jeans. He's left a sharpie and it has burst. All. over. my. stuff. I've had to buy a very large amount of clothes since we got married and I'd save a lot of heartache if I just cleaned out his pockets...but at 31 years old...he can do it himself or go totally broke learning.
