I Must Let Them Be Free...

>>  Sunday, March 28, 2010

As I looked through the lens of my camera recently, one scene in particular spoke to my heart.

(insert photo here)

My heart likened these these two kites to my young boys. I watched as they flew side by side. Guided by my husband {and I}, yet completely out of arms reach. Holding strong as they resist against the world {wind}. We prepare them, we keep them close, but at some point we will be forced to let them fly on their own. We can only hope that they will stay strong against the winds of the world and find their way home again.....

Your kids are so young though! You don't have to worry about it yet, do you?

That is such a beautiful metaphor! I love it and I love knowing that your boys are being raised by a mom and dad as wonderful as you and your hubs!

I think your precious boys have strong roots and therefore wings. Lovely imagery, thanks, H.E.

One of my favorite sayings, "To your children you should give two things....one is roots, the other wings."

What a beautiful analogy! My oldest son thanked us for independence with training wheels while he was in college. Our second one wants us to take the training wheels off now, but he's not ready yet. It's a tough job. I love how you said, "Guided by my husband and I, yet completely out of arms reach." Perfect!

I loved this analogy (is that correct?) And I love kites. It doesn't get better than that. (sorry I haven't been around for a while.)
