So, The Story Goes....

>>  Thursday, August 20, 2009

Years ago, my father went on vacation –leaving me to tend to the four-legged residents (read-his cats) he left behind. I don’t remember the exact circumstances, or where he even went. What is remembered –without a doubt, is the fact that we had a freak snow storm. If my memory serves me right, it was the right season for snow, but something so severe had not been anticipated. The animals to be tended to, being a 30 minute drive from my home, I left them to fend for themselves. Horrible I know. I am entrusted two loving felines, and because of white-out conditions and unsafe roads, I act selfishly and hole myself up in the safety of my own home. The good news is, all ended well, and the oh so beloved pets neither went hungry nor thirsty –as Fatherson is known to put out at least 10lbs of food and water. However, I have yet to live the experience down.

I have not been left to tend to the animals left behind in quite some time - until, this past week. My father and I joked and he has teased me relentlessly. Almost to the point, that I would dare not ‘abandon’ his sweet Mouser. He assured me that he had planned this vacation carefully. The dates set for the hottest month of the year, so that an excuse of a ‘snow storm’ could not be used. Oh yeah! Really, Fatherson? Look what I got stuck in on Saturday.

Believe it! I was brave though, I packed it up and continued forward. I was not going to let another snow storm tarnish my record.

I don't do cats so I wouldn't have even felt a tinge bad. Sorry Fatherson.

I think the weather must be broken...who do we call to fix it? Father Time or Mother Earth?

Erin 20 August, 2009 10:49

Wow, that really is crazy! Living where I do, I hope I don't see snow for at least three more months.

That is completely bizarre! And hilarious because of the tie to the cat situation! :)

So do you accidental control the weather? :)

That's CRAZY! I heard that the Tetons and Yellowstone got snow. Were you in that vicinity?

I am a cat lover, but in snow... they'd be fending for themselves! I am so with you on that.

Feeling bad that you had to contend with SNOW of all things on vacation and in the summer nonetheless! I would have packed up and fled...I hate snow.
