Just Welcoming You to The Neighborhood
>> Saturday, August 8, 2009
It's 11:21 pm, my time. Just now, I went over and introduced myself to the neighbors. Yup! Why so late? Well, some of you might remember me mentioning a certain neighbor and his dog. (I would link, but I can't seem to find the posts in my archive. Trust me, they are there. There are a few of them..where I complain repeatedly about the neighbors dog barking incessantly).
Tonight was the straw that broke the camels back. I put on my shoes, marched up his front walk and in one swift motion, all that could be heard was 'Ding Dong' 'BAM BAM BAM' 'DING DONG' 'DING DONG'.
I could tell by the commotion behind the door that I had startled the neighbor awake. We have never met. For that matter, he probably had NO idea which neighbor I even was. It didn't matter, he was about to meet me -face to face.
In the end we had a nice little chat. I very politely informed him that I was done. I was no longer going to allow his dog to be my problem. That if his dog woke up my household, and my small children (again), I would be waking up his household. All of which would be followed by a call to Animal Services at the next business hour. If he chose not to answer the door, I would call the local police department.
Luckily, he was very apologetic and acknowledged the fact that his dog is a pain in my arse, in turn, I apologized for being so emotionally charged.
The best part....there were some (other) neighbors sitting on their porch -that watched me march across the 'offending neighbors' yard. About the time we reached 'BAM BAM BAM' all I heard was "Holy Shit", and they (the gawking neighbor) disappeared. Apparently, I looked like I was a force to be reckoned with.
Here comes the welcome wagon, I just wanted to welcome you to the neighborhood! Yup..I'm one of those neighbors.

Okay! I can so relate! Been there done that! BUt it did not work for us. We got a door slammed in our face and porch light turn out on us. So we followed thru with citiations court fines so on .Still the dogs barks and the now they are peeping at us from their upstairs windows obviously to annoy us. Just today we had a bday party for daughter so I guesse they thought it was a good time to whack some weeds and cut some trees! UUUGGGGHHHHH! Not only that today She had the nerve to call me a BITCH over the fence! Yup She told her dogs to stop barking because the bitch next door was breathing! Sorry to vent but your post hit so close to home!
Whoo hoo! Hear you roar!
I'm glad you did that. Barking dogs are the absolute most annoying thing at night. I just don't understand how anybody could allow their dog to do it.
good for you! We've got 2 dogs and the minute they start making noise (only one complains to come inside and he just howls) they are both inside. My husband likes to pretend he can't hear them but I tell him all the time we have to be considerate of our neighbors, even though their 4 cats crap in our yard every day. I posted about THAT the other day :)
I'm glad the neighbor wasn't a d-bag and hopefully the problem has been dealt with!
You Go Girl!! As a dog owner, it really frosts my cookies to be around clueless dog owners. Is your neighbor hard of hearing? I would have applauded you if I was the neighbor across the street, Iprobably would have come over and added my complaints, cause yup, I'm the kind of neighbor too.
Good for you, I hope things have been more quiet for you on your street. I miss seeing you, it's fun to keep up to date on your blog.
Good for you! Let's hope they are a little more conscientious next time.
you crack me up!!!
You go!
My mom did the same thing a few years ago. She finally bought this device that you can put up that hurts the dog's ears and makes it stop barking.
And then the prick of a neighbor got a duck call and whenever we put up the device, he played the duck call.
So, we called the cops.
Never had a problem again.
You make me giggle! thanks for sharing! you are one gutsy woman!
I'm one of those neighbors that appreciates neighbors like you. Because we're all thinking the same thing and just wondering when we should finally go over and say something.
