Do You Remember When?

A Hersheys Candy bar came in a foil wrapper with the chocolate brown sleeve.
You could walk to the convenient store or drug store and buy penny candies
Every deck of baseball cards came with a piece of chewing gum.
We used to trick or treat door to door, for hours on end. Now, we visit the trunks of cars at the local church.
You carried quarters in case you needed to call home.
Two men rode on the back of the garbage truck and loaded your trash out of a metal garbage can.
Your favorite soda came in a glass bottle.

What do you remember, that no longer is?
15 Pepsi Points :
It is funny you mention this...
We live in an older town. We have what we call "back door service" trash pick up. They pick it up wherever you put it.
Our mailboxes are also attached to our house. The mailman walks the entire neighoborhood, no matter the weather.
Hershey bars don't come in foil anymore? Where have I been?
I even remember carrying dimes in order to call home!
Remember when phones were always hooked to the wall, and you couldn't go within 4 or 5 feet of it while talking unless you had a humongously long cord?
are we the same age? I remember ALL of these and when Saturday mornings were the ONLY days you could watch cartoons!
i remember to much to mention... and then it makes me so sad how fast time flies...
I remember going outside and playing til we were hungry, then coming in to eat lunch and heading right back outside until dark. No one had to worry where we were or if someone had kidnapped us. Those were the days!
I am sitting here trying to think of something, but I got nothing! Except a big old headache!
i remember the big chap-stick things on a rope that you wore around your neck. they were all yummy flavors, like bubble gum and root beer and dr. pepper.
and when you had to go into the gas station to pay for your gas.
Does that mean that we are getting old? Since there are so many things that are gone. I remember thinking I will never have a cell phone because they are so stinkin expensive, but now I feel lost without it.
I still buy my hershey bars in foil...
am I in a parallel dimension?
I'm confused...
And I still trick or treat door to door!
Hi! Just stopping by to reply to your hello on my new blog. Nice to meet you! :)
P.S. I'm confused by the Hershey bar reference, too!
And regarding Lara's post above, I'm still stuck in the stone age and all of the phones in my house are still stuck to the darn wall!! It's really annoying. :/
I remember jelly shoes, and those bracelets that you would put in your mouth and pretend it was a retainer. And the wax lips at Halloween that tasted good. And old school shows like The Facts of Life. Good times.
I remember going to the store with my grandpa to get ice cream for like 10 cents.
I also remember Garbage Pail Kids (only a little though) your garbage truck reminded me of that.
We still trick or treat --or at least try to but it seems no one is home anymore. That just makes me so so sad.
I remember all of that and those are fond memories!
I remember that if I wanted to go somewhere, I rode my bike. Parents didn't cart their kids around back then.
Sigh....I do remember all of those things...another wistful sigh inserted here....
I remember when you could get a movie ticket for $4.00! (an evening showing!) It's $10 now!
I remember when children were considered the remote controls to the tvs.
OH and when I tell my kids that we didn't have a VCR when I was young but that we would rent one from the pizza store they laugh and laugh.
