As American as it Gets

There is something unique about attending a rodeo. An all American sport, in every respect of the term.

I have discovered exactly why I love The Rodeo as much as I do. There is more to it than the excitement of the sights and sounds. It all goes beyond the size and stature of the impressive animals or the courage and hard work of the people involved. The all consuming reason for my deep admiration of this Thing They Call Rodeo is simple. It's pride. American Pride. Nowhere do you see (that I have ever seen) a larger gathering of a more diverse people. Brought together by tradition. The traditions and practices (in respect to roping and herding cattle) of the hard-working and honest TRUE Americans of this country. This country was built by the men and woman of the sport.

Every thing about the event is all AMERICAN. From the opening prayer (prayed to God) to the displaying of this countries colors. The patriotism is palatable. The freedoms we enjoy, undeniable. It's truely an escape. A chance to really exercise our freedoms as Americans. As I attended the annual Days of 47 Rodeo with my family this weekend, it all was much more than just a celebration of our States heritage. It was a reminder of the freedoms we enjoy in this great country, and why I truly am Proud to Be An American!

When my hubby and I first met he thought I was weird because I liked watching the rodeos!

I think that maybe you should have married my husband. :)

What a fun family activity! The last rodeo I went to was when I was 11 or 12 years old. I got one of the worst migraines I have ever had while I was there. (Throwing up and everything.) And unfortunately, that kind of deterred me from going to one ever again. But now that I have kids, I should look into it, because I'm sure they would enjoy it!

What a great, patriotic post! I'm proud to be an American too.

I don't know man, we've got a couple HUGE rodeos up here and they really do take the cake. There is something about them that grabs you, but I can't let you American's take all the credit for them.

We love the rodeo around here too! It's such a big deal down here in Tucson that school is shut down for 3 days for the rodeo!

it's great to see that there is SOMEONE who is still proud to be an American!! All I seem to hear lately is complaining about being ashamed of being an American (When Pres. Bush was in office) and to all those people: MOVE!

I'm not a rodeo fan but your post really made me happy!

The level of athleticism and fearlessness is incredible. I like barrel racing myself.

You couldn't have said it better. I haven't been to a rodeo since I lived in Colordo when I was 9 or 10, but I'll never forget it. It truly was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I try to watch them on TV because it takes me back.
